Wanda Marie Duncan

[wds id="10"]
Wanda Marie Barnes Duncan, 71 was called to Heaven by our Lord and Savior on August 26, 2018.
Born May 18, 1947 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Charles Dale and Fay Nell Yancey Barnes, after 4 years of age Wanda Marie was raised in Del Rio, Texas.  Her loving parents instilled in her a determined work ethic running the local gas station as well as her love for Soap Operas at lunch time.  She then attended Abilene Christian College where she received a Bachelor's of Science in Education.  While at home during summer break, she met Donald Rex Duncan and he proposed before doing a tour of duty for the US Air Force in Vietnam.  They were married 49 years and resided in Alvin, Texas.   There they raised three children, attended church, and went to numerous sporting events while Wanda taught Pre-Algebra and Algebra in Alvin ISD for 33 years.  During that time she was a devoted wife and mother but also a loyal and loving friend.  Her students knew her as a tough teacher that expected excellence and instilled discipline with encouragement.
We all know the real loves of her life came along in the form of her 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.  For the last 14 years of her life, Nana spent time spoiling each of them by giving them hugs and kisses, buying them special treasures, and attending any and all events they were participating in at the time.  She spent her hours making them cross stitched baby blankets, reading books to them and cheering in the stands.  You could see joy radiating through her smile and words whenever any of the grandkids were around.  She was the cornerstone of every celebration for the grandkids and their friends became her own friends like those of her children.
Wanda was welcomed at Heaven's gates by her parents Dale and Fay Nell Barnes, her grandson Malachi Thomas Schaefer, her best friend and aunt, Sherry Jo Yancey Felix and her college roommate, Carolyn Osboune as well as the other saints.  She is now cheering to their finish line her husband, Donald Rex Duncan; her brother, Charlie Barnes and wife Sherry; daughters, Kayla Michelle Hodge and husband Mike, Kerri Lynne Schaefer and husband Ben; son, Thomas Dale Duncan and wife Stephanie; along with grandchildren, Michael Blake Hodge and wife Amanda, Sheldon Scot Hodge (US Army), Tyler  James Hodge  (US Army), Calder Duncan Hodge, Emily Imogene Schaefer, Krystal FayNell Schaefer, Lane Thomas Duncan, Taylor Jane Duncan, and Luke Henry Duncan; and great granddaughter, Ellie Marie Hodge.   She is also survived by numerous family members and friends that will miss her dearly.
II Timothy 4:7-8
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing
