Steven Kyomasa Sotsuda, 65, passed away on May 24 th , 2021, in The Woodlands, Texas after fighting renal failure and diabetes. He died peacefully in his sleep. He was born on September 19, 1955, in Okinawa, Japan to Stanley Kyoji Sotsuda and Atsuko (Arasaki) Sotsuda. Steve is survived by his Mom Atsuko Sotsuda; brothers Kelvin and Thomas Sotsuda; nephews Sam Sotsuda, and Ricky Kuniyoshi; nieces Sarah Sotsuda, and Emi (Kuniyoshi) Lee; girlfriend Maggy Nash; and many extended family members and friends.
Steve grew up in Okinawa, Japan and graduated from Kubasaki High School Class of 1974. Steve enjoyed sports in high school. He played football and Judo. He was the center in football (nicknamed Tree Stump) and competed in the heavy weight division in Judo. After graduating high school, he moved to Houston, Texas and became an Automotive Technician. Steve was one of the top transmission technicians in the Houston area. A well-known mechanic who could fix anything.
Steve also continued to compete in Judo. One of his best accomplishments was taking 3 rd place in the Pan Am games in the heavy weight division.
Due to health reasons, Steve could no longer work as an automotive technician and decided to work in other roles within the automotive industry.
Steve was someone who cared about family and loyalty.
