Martha Galvan

October 4, 1945 — November 4, 2025

Martha Ofelia Villarreal Galvan, born October 4, 1945 in Monterrey, Mexico, peacefully passed away on November 4, 2025. Her life’s journey brought her to Houston, Texas as a young child where she made a life rooted in love, family, laughter, and community.

Martha is survived by her three children: Jose, David, and Deyra, her siblings Bill, Carlos, David, Orphie, her late brother Jaime “Chacho” and their spouses and their children, each of whom carries her unconditional love, humor, and generous spirit forward.

She was known by many names: Martha to the world, Nena to her family, Mama G to those she embraced as her own and simply mom to her children. Her life was full of people, and she made everyone feel like they belonged.

Martha never met a stranger. She had a way of opening doors into people’s lives simply by being herself. You could be standing in line at the grocery store, and within five minutes she would know your story, your dreams, your heartbreaks, and she would already be inviting you over for flautas. She loved people deeply and easily, and people loved her back.

Music was one of her joys whether it was listening to a song she grew up with, singing with friends and family or teaching Spanish nursery rhymes. Her ability to impact others’ lives was her gift.

And if you knew Martha, you knew she loved Texas A&M with full-hearted pride. Her laughter filled rooms, her stories stitched families and friends together, and her presence made even ordinary days feel memorable.

Martha leaves behind a legacy of kindness, welcoming, and connection. To be around her was to feel included. To be loved by her was to feel at home.

Her memory will continue to live in every shared meal, every conversation between friends, and the warmth she leaves behind in our lives.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished, but never forgotten by the many hearts she touched.
