Marjorie Janitz Lewis

Marjorie Ann Lewis, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, in her hometown of Houston, Texas. Born on November 6, 1947, Marjorie was a beacon of love and joy in the lives of her family and friends, who will remember her for her nurturing spirit and unwavering commitment to those she cherished.

Throughout her life, Marjorie forged a fulfilling career as an inside sales representative for various oil field drilling supply companies. She approached her work with the same dedication she showed in every aspect of her life, always making time for the people she held dear, even amid bustling schedules.

Marjorie possessed an incredible talent for bringing family together. She had a passion for cooking that flourished through her love of collecting family recipes, which she meticulously compiled into a cherished cookbook. This heartfelt project was destined to be shared with her family, a tangible testament to her desire to keep their shared history alive through the joys of food and tradition. Her infectious spirit shone through every batch of cookies she baked each Christmas, lovingly prepared to be gifted, bringing smiles and warmth to all who received them.

Those lucky enough to know Marjorie will forever hold dear the countless memories spent in her garden, where she found profound happiness. Early mornings were often spent in the tranquility of her backyard, sipping coffee as she watched the birds flit about, a peaceful ritual that captured the essence of her gentle soul. She loved gardening, nurturing blooms just as she nurtured her relationships, each flower a representation of the love she cultivated throughout her life.

Raised in Houston, Marjorie graduated from Spring Branch High School in 1966, where she built strong friendships that blossomed even into adulthood. This close-knit group of childhood friends remained an important part of her life, reflecting her ability to connect and spread warmth to those around her.

Marjorie is survived by her loving sons, James "Jim" Shelton and Tommy R, Shelton, Jr.; her siblings, Linda Rutherford and Deborah Woolery; and her grandson, Milan Shelton. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Dorothy Mae Parker and Edwin Otto Janitz, as well as her brother, Kenneth W. Janitz.

A graveside service in honor of Marjorie will be held on July 15, 2025, at 10 am at Woodlawn Garden of Memories Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate her life, share stories of love and laughter, and reflect on the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.

Marjorie's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her love for her family, her passions for cooking and gardening, and her dedication to friendship continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have shared life's journey with her. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the cherished recipes she left behind, the flowers that bloom in her absence, and the love that binds her family together.
