Judy Myrle Stanley Castleman moved to her heavenly home on October 15, 2023, following a long battle with her health.
Judy was born the oldest daughter of Herbert “Hub” Reginald Stanley and Juanita Rinda Harvill Stanley, in Hollis, Oklahoma, on June 14th, 1945. Her younger sister, Nancy preceded her in death in 2019, and her mother and father in earlier years.
Judy is survived by her husband for over 60 years, Jerry Don Castleman, her three sons, Kent and his wife Diane, Stanley, and Tommy and his wife Kathy, 14 grandchildren and their spouses, and 8 great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate her life will be healed at Spring Baptist Church, on Friday, October 20, at 11am with a time of viewing starting at 10am. Spring Baptist Church is located at 633 East Louetta, Spring Texas.
Judy’s greatest loves in life were Jesus Christ, her family, and her friends. She was raised in a Christian home and worked as the pastoral care secretary at Spring Baptist Church for 30+ years. In 2022 she was granted the Teacher Emeritus Certificate for teaching the Joyful Age Ladies Life Group at Spring Baptist Church for 32 years. She enjoyed studying God’s Word and teaching ladies of all ages. She and Jerry were members at Spring Baptist Church for 50 years.
Judy loved showering her family with gifts and giggles. She showed her love by making sure everyone got Sonic Happy Hour when they were in town, baking their beloved Waldorf Astoria cake, and by making sure every child had at least three Christmas gifts, sometimes more.
She loved her friends like they were family and traveled the country with them. Playing hand-and-foot or making greeting cards were weekly events. She enjoyed shopping for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was totally unable to leave a store empty-handed, especially if she saw something she could gift to a family member.
Judy was a fierce woman. She never let her diabetes stop her from eating the things she loved, never let someone else tell her what she could or could not do, and never let the people she loved forget they were hers.
Granny, you will be loved and missed by all who knew you. We will tell our kids and grandkids and great grandkids of all the wonderful things you did until we see you again with our Savior on the other side of eternity. We love you a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck.
