Joseph Guadalupe Salazar, a beloved son, devoted father, and respected professional, passed away unexpectedly on April 21, 2026, in his hometown of Houston, Texas. Born on September 25, 1974, Joseph’s life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and a protective spirit that touched all who knew him.
A graduate of Westfield High School’s class of 1994, Joseph carried with him a strong commitment to service, having honorably served in the United States Navy. His military record was distinguished, adorned with honors such as the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Battle “E” Ribbon, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, reflecting his courage and unwavering commitment to his country.
Professionally, Joseph devoted his career to Facility Property Management at Centerpoint Energy. But it was his personal life where Joseph truly shined, embodying the qualities he was known for—loving, kind, and fiercely protective.
Joseph’s daughter, Jaden Salazar, has shared cherished memories that beautifully illustrate her father’s tender heart. From their yearly Father/Daughter birthday dances, which became a joyous tradition, to the comforting long drives when days were hard, Joseph was a steadfast source of strength and solace. These moments stand as enduring testaments to his unwavering devotion and affectionate guidance.
Outside of his professional and family life, Joseph found joy in simple pleasures. He loved cooking, a passion that brought warmth and connection to those around him. Even in leisure, he enjoyed friendly games of pool with his brother-in-laws and shared lighthearted times with Jaden through pedicures—a sweet blend of playfulness and tenderness.
Joseph leaves behind a loving family who will carry his memory in their hearts. His mother, Yolanda Hunt, and father, Sebastian Velazquez, as well as his daughter, Jaden Salazar, brother, Michael Salazar, sister-in-law, Eleanor Salazar, sister, Angela Caskey, and brother-in-law, Scott Caskey, and sister, Julie Castillo, and brother-in-law, Abraham Castillo. Together, they form a circle of love that he so deeply cherished.
Friends and family will gather to honor Joseph’s life on May 4, 2026, beginning with a visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Victory Worship Center in Houston, Texas. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00 p.m., culminating with a burial at Houston National Cemetery beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Though gone too young, Joseph Guadalupe Salazar’s legacy of love, kindness, and protection endures endlessly. His spirit remains a guiding light—one that will continue to inspire and comfort those who were privileged to know him. In the deep sorrow of his loss, there is also a profound gratitude for the time shared and the precious memories he leaves behind.
