Joel Lee Blair, 57, of Charleston, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2025. He was born on July 22, 1968, and lived a life marked by devotion—to God, to his family, and to the people he served so faithfully.
Joel deeply loved the church and cherished Apostolic doctrine. His faith was not merely spoken but lived out daily through quiet service and sincere dedication. He taught Sunday School, faithfully worked in church media and sound, and was known as a soul winner and Bible study teacher who poured truth and love into everyone he encountered. Joel also joyfully hosted numerous pancake breakfast fundraisers, always finding ways to serve while bringing people together.
Above all else, Joel’s family was his prized possession. He was a devoted husband to Carrie, his wife of 31 years, whom he loved with steadfast loyalty and tenderness. He was a proud and loving father to his sons Colby, Jayce, and Joshua, delighting in the men they became and the families they built. His love extended naturally to his daughters-in-law Susana and Mandy, and to his beloved grandchildren Corra, Bear, and Ezra, who brought him immense joy.
Joel found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—fishing quiet waters, golfing with friends, and standing at the grill providing meals and memories for those he loved. He also had a well-known fondness for anything sour, especially his favorite candy, Lemonheads. Often requested as a special treat, they brought him childlike joy, and it is fitting they will be shared in his honor, a sweet reminder of the joy he found in small things.
He is survived by his wife Carrie; sons Colby (Susana), Jayce (Mandy), and Joshua; siblings Vicki (Bob Johns) and Wayne (Lisa Hopson); grandchildren Corra, Bear, and Ezra; and his bonus family Nathaniel and Lauren Bedair, along with Emily, Ava Rose, and Cooper. He is also lovingly remembered by his best friend, Lawrence Heilers, whose friendship was a treasured gift in Joel’s life.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents, Frenchy and Mary LaChar, as well as his brother, Michael LaChar.
Joel’s life was a testimony of faith, humility, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of service, devotion, and unwavering belief in the goodness of God. Though deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing he now rests in the presence of the Lord he loved so dearly.
