In loving memory of Johnnie Ener

Johnnie Ruth Ener was born on July 26 th, 1945 to Bruce Daniel Burnett and Ola Sullivan Burnett. She graduated from Jasper High School in 1963 and married Don Coleman Ener on April 17 th, 1965. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas on May 13 th, 1989. Additionally, she earned certifications in ESL (English as a Second Language) and Special Education. Johnnie Ruth was an elementary school teacher for 23 years. She influenced many lives with her kind heart and generous spirit. She taught in Bleakwood, Jasper, Evadale and Houston, Texas. She retired from teaching at Orange Grove Elementary School, Aldine School District in Houston, Texas where she had been honored as Orange Grove Campus Teacher of the year 2012. Johnnie Ruth was very involved in church activities. Before she went to be with the Lord, she was a member of Champions Forest Baptist Church in Spring, Texas where she enjoyed singing in the Solid Rocker’s choir group. In December of 2020 she began to show signs that her lifelong Essential Tremor had progressed to end stage Parkinson’s Disease. She entered hospice care in January of this year after being released from the hospital. She left this earth on February 27th, 2021 at home, surrounded by her family knowing that she had passed her final exam and was graduating to Heaven. She is survived by her daughter LaDonna and son-in-law Chris Richter, granddaughter Chloe Daniels of Spring, son Jeremy Ener of Houston, brother-in-Law Jimmy McMullen of Spring, sister Charlotte and her husband Stephen Leddy of Fort Worth. Sister-in-Law Joann Burnett of Brazoria and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 52 years Don Coleman Ener, sisters Danielle Womack and Marian McMullen, brother Dan Burnett, brother-in-law Shirel Womack. Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 10th, 2021 in the Chapel of Champions Forest Baptist Church located at 15555 Stuebner Airline Road, Houston, Texas 77069. All remembrance flowers may be sent to 4426 Summer Mountain Trail, Spring, TX 77388.
