Sergeant Glenn Shaft

Retired Sergeant Glenn Shaft, a cherished member of the law enforcement community, passed away on August 2, 2024, in Tomball, Texas. Born on December 2, 1959, in Auburn, New York, Deputy Shaft lived a life full of love, laughter, dedication to serving and protecting his community.

Throughout his career in law enforcement, Sergeant Shaft has a total of 40 years of service to Harris County, 39 years for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and one year with Harris County Constable Precinct 4. He started as a Jailer on March 21, 1983 and became a Peace Officer on May 10, 1984. During his tenure with the Harris County Sheriffs Office, he became a Sergeant and retired on April 8, 2011. He returned to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office as a part time Deputy on June 20, 2011 until his passing. Sergeant Shaft touched the lives of many with his kind and compassionate spirit. Known for his great sense of humor thoughtfulness towards others, he will be remembered not only for his professional integrity but also for the warmth care he showed to those around him.

Sergeant Glenn Shaft found joy in the simple moments of life - from going on road trips to hunting and fishing adventures with his father and brother, to the heartwarming sight of him cooking breakfast for his family. His love for his family was evident in everything he did.

Outside of work, Sergeant Shaft cultivated hobbies that brought him peace and fulfillment. Whether it was swimming with his grandson, indulging in painting sessions, or honing his skills in woodworking projects, he found solace and happiness in these activities.

In the hearts of those who survive him, Sergeant Glenn Shaft's memory will forever remain cherished. He is survived by his mother Dorothy Shaft; beloved wife Cynthia Shaft; adoring children Lauren Sievers and Justin Shaft; sister Cyndie Salmons; brother Scott Shaft; brother-in-law Jeff Salmons; as well as his grandson Colton Sievers. He is preceded in death by his father Carl Shaft.

A Celebration of Life service to honor Retired Sergeant Glenn Shaft will be held on August 13, 2024, at Real Life Church in Tomball, Texas. The service will begin at 11:00 AM to commemorate a life lived with dedication and love.

Sergeant Glenn Shaft's legacy of kindness and service will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing he made a difference in the lives of many.
