George Victor Silvio, lovingly known as "Papa Silvio," passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, in Houston, Texas, leaving behind a legacy filled with love and devotion. Born on October 20, 1947, in Tyler, Texas, George dedicated his life to his family and to serving his community.
A retired Captain from the Harris County Sheriff Department, George exemplified the qualities of a leader and protector. His career was marked by his unwavering commitment to duty and service, characteristics that also defined his approach to family life. He was a man whose love for his family was evident in everything he did. George cherished his wife, Mary Silvio, and was a proud father to Neyco McFerrin (Michael Woychesin), Jenny Silvio and Tony Silvio (wife Mitzi). His affection for his children radiated through his actions and words, establishing an enduring bond that will continue to resonate within their hearts.
As a grandfather, George's pride blossomed further with each of his grandchildren: Kaitlin (husband Alan), Sean, Madyson, Alyssa, and Cole. They were the twinkle in his eye, the apples of his heart. His role as a great-grandfather to Abbey and Ricky was yet another testament to a life rich in love and connection, a legacy which will now be passed down through generations.
George's family will always remember him not just for his accomplishments, but for the warmth of his character. He was a man of faith, someone who loved the Lord and encouraged those around him to do the same. His personality was a soothing balm to many, offering comfort and counsel. His loving spirit extended beyond blood relations; he was a supportive brother to Ronnie Silvio (wife Kathy) and a treasured uncle to Paula and Michael.
George is remembered with fondness by those who were fortunate enough to cross his path. He leaves behind a trail of heartfelt memories infused with joy, laughter, and love, alongside his beloved babies, Pickles and Bubbles, who were his constant companions.
Preceding him in death were his devoted parents, Victor and Dorothy Silvio, and his daughter Jenny Loraine Silvio, both of whom he carried in his heart until his last breath. He also cherished the memory of his grandmother, Inez Dennis, whose influence shaped him.
