David Chittenden

February 11, 1956 — March 1, 2024

Chittenden, David, 67 – of Spring, Texas, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024.

Memorial Service will be held on Friday March 8, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Spring Baptist Church in the Youth Center. A Viewing will be at 9:00 AM before the service. David was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on December 11, 1956, the husband of Vicki Chittenden and son of William James Chittenden and Lovetta Muse. He graduated from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri where he met Vicki. They were married at Seminole Baptist Temple by Bro. Raymond Tracy. On their first date, they spent an hour talking about the Bible and God’s ministry. David went on the serve as Youth Pastor for Bro. Cecil Maxey in Parker, Colorado for a year as an intern. He also worked for her dad, Verlin Stogdill in Moberly, Missouri until they moved to Haltom City, TX and worked for Bro. Elmer Banks for 14 years as Youth Minister and Young Marrieds Director. The Lord called him to go on and preach the gospel and he took a call in Altus, Oklahoma where he served for 12 years. He also served in Sweetwater, Texas and then went to the “Frozen Tundra” as he liked to call it of Flint, Michigan where he pastored Great Lakes Baptist Temple for 15 years.

David loved the Lord with all his heart. It was so hard for him in the last days to go to church, but he went if he could go.

David was a carpenter by trade, loved sports and ran sports leagues in our ministries for Bro. Banks. In fact, the way Vicki met him was on the parking lot at church playing volleyball where he spiked her in the face with the ball. He turned to his roommate and said, “I’m going to date that girl”. She was not sure about that.

David is survived by his wife Vicki and 3 of his 4 children. Rachel Gucker and her 7 children: David, Luke, Margaret, John, Matthew, Jane, and William. Our son James passed by his wife Christina Wilkins and their 3 children: Allie, Andrew and Avery who reside in Kathleen, GA. Nathan Chittenden and his wife Rebecca, his children: Matthew Cole, Autumn Baylee Chittenden, Seth Chittenden and Sara Bowerman, our youngest daughter and her husband Todd, KJ, and Leah Interrante from Michigan. His mother Lovetta Muse, Sister Christie and Bobby Miller, Brother Steve Chittenden, and wife Teresa along with their children Angela Hirsch, Amanda Kite, Brad and Bryan Chittenden.

The family is extremely grateful for all the expressions of love and sympathy from many friends and for Spring Baptist Church for their help and support during this difficult time.
