In Loving Memory of Charlotte Nellene Stead
On the evening of August 11, 2024, Charlotte Nellene Stead peacefully passed away, listening to the voice of her grandson Eddie and holding the hand of her granddaughter Kari. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, courage, and an unbreakable spirit.
Born on May 13, 1942, in Huntsville, Texas, Charlotte was the cherished daughter of Helen and Charles Reinhardt. Growing up in the small town of Trinity, Texas, she was a bright and lively spirit, known for her quick wit and the warm smile she shared with everyone. As a young girl, she played the organ at her local church, setting the foundation for a life filled with faith and compassion.
Charlotte’s life was a testament to the power of perseverance and joy, no matter the challenges she faced. From her days as homecoming queen to mastering the typewriter and shorthand, she embraced every experience with grace and laughter. She raised her own two children, Teresa and Gary, along with her grandson Eddie with boundless love. Her nurturing spirit extended to many others, including her sister, her mother, and her stepchildren whom she considered her own.
After retiring, Charlotte embarked on new adventures, traveling the world and soaking in the beauty and wonder it had to offer. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—attending church, playing bingo, and crafting with her neighbors. Her warmth and generosity touched everyone she met, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Preceded in death by her beloved parents, sister, daughter Teresa Thorpe, and son Gary Kirby, Charlotte leaves behind a family that will forever carry her in their hearts. She is survived by her grandchildren, Eddie Walker Jr., Kari Sharp, Stephen Kirby and his life partner Meredith Bauer, Dakota Kirby and his wife McKenzi, Jakob Kirby, and her great-grandchildren, Hayden Kirby, Kaleigh Walker, Noah Sharp, Alexis Sharp, Emma Walker, Wroxton Kirby-Bauer, Remy Kirby-Bauer, and Canaan Kirby. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
A Graveside Service is scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 10:00 am at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079. Kari Sharp will be hosting a Celebration of Life get together following the graveside service. The family kindly requests that flowers be sent to the graveside service.
Charlotte’s life was a journey filled with love, adventure, and unwavering strength. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.
